Hi Everyone,
My name is John and I’m a boomer enjoying the encore years after my main career.
Our kids are out of the house, so my wife and I are on a journey adjusting to the Boomer Years. I’ve been happily married for 35 years and a father of 3 kids. My son is “off the payroll” and my two daughters are still in school. (bet you can guess from the picture, one of the colleges that I help support!)
The reason I created this site was to help folks like you enjoy the Boomer Years, share our common experiences, and hopefully learn a little from each other. To do this, I am going to share my personal experiences with you and what I’ve discovered over the years through “trial and error”. Hopefully we will share a few laughs along the way, as well as talk about the challenging times.
What do the Boomer Years mean to me??
Glad you asked. Just like all of you, I wear many hats, often at the same time.
Being a member of the sandwich generation, we’ve been recently enjoying the freedoms of becoming empty nesters, while at the same time caring for aging relatives. For a while, work got in the way of work-life balance, so I took an early retirement, to focus on eldercare matters and explore a few areas of interest. Now that life is somewhat stable again, I’m back in the workforce. In the meantime my wife continues to work, own a business, and still juggle family and eldercare matters.
We all play many roles in life. In my case I’m a husband, dad, son, employee, boss, retiree, returnee to the workforce, traveler, woodworker, investor, homeowner, entrepreneur, and generally a gadget man. Oh, and by the way, I still dislike yard work intensely. No one said it would be easy juggling all of these roles simultaneously.
I’d also ask, that if I ever say anything that captures your interest, that you get involved with my site and leave a comment. I love to talk about our common experiences and to also mentor those in the next generation. If you ever need any feedback or support on topics we cover, I would be more than happy to connect. Simply leave you comments on the site and make sure you visit my site regularly as it will be updated with the crazy “ideas” and “information” that I come across that you will find interesting.
Anyway, I wish you all the best in life, no matter what generation you are in, and thanks for dropping by.
To your health, happiness and success,
John
